Supreme Court Allows Texas Abortion Ban

Abortions No Longer Available After 6 Weeks in Texas

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court declined to act on an emergency petition from Texas abortion clinics, thereby allowing Texas’ ban on abortions after six weeks of gestation to remain in place. The law, which was signed into law in May, also allows citizens to file civil lawsuits against anyone who helps facilitate an abortion after six weeks, including abortion clinics, or someone who drives a woman to a clinic. $10,000 would be paid to the person who brings the suit.

President Biden stated the Supreme Court decision is a “violation of the right established under Roe V. Wade.” He also said the ruling, “will impair women’s access to health care and… deputizes private citizens to sue those they believe helped another person get a banned abortion.” The Supreme Court is expected to hear arguments in a case reassessing Roe. V. Wade later this year.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Justices of the Court as they consider cases involving the right to life.
  • That President Biden would seek God’s wisdom as he and his administration craft national policy.
  • For discernment for federal judges as they rule on abortion cases.
